English interest out of the Championship
Burnley are keeping tabs on Herba Guirassy. The report comes from Foot Mercato. The English club, who are in the Championship, are weighing up whether to table an opening bid to Nantes in the final days of the transfer window.
Nothing has been put in writing yet. No offer has been sent. At this stage, it is only being considered, not negotiated.
Try it for $0.99.
Nineteen years old and already 45 appearances
Guirassy is 19. Born in Angers, he came through the Nantes academy and has broken through over the past two seasons. Forty-five games in yellow and green, seven goals, one assist.
The key figure here is his age against his minutes. Not many wingers his age have racked up that many senior appearances before turning 20. That is exactly the sort of profile English clubs have been targeting in France for years now: a player already hardened by the top level, but still available at a sensible price.
The player himself would reportedly be open to a move to England.
Nantes hardly needed this
The club is already going through a rough spell. Gregoire Poirier has just been appointed head coach after a quick split with Michel Der Zakarian. The new staff has to rebuild on the fly, with a squad still far from settled.
Lose a homegrown winger, aged 19, in the closing days of the window and the sporting picture gets a lot messier. Nantes have not said where they stand, or what price might tempt them to sell.
There are only a few days left before the window shuts. That is not long to wrap up an international transfer. It is still long enough for things to change fast.
