From FC Mantois to Ligue 1
No academy. No roadmap. Yassin Belkhdim arrived at Angers at 20 from FC Mantois and learned top-flight football the hard way.
It has worked. The Franco-Moroccan midfielder has played 56 Ligue 1 matches over the past two seasons under Alexandre Dujeux. Stephane Gilli, Angers’ new coach, looks set to keep him in the same role in his starting line-up.
But others are watching too. According to Foot Mercato, the 24-year-old’s profile is appealing to several European clubs.

Four clubs, one that is pushing ahead
Still according to Foot Mercato, Rayo Vallecano, Burnley and Anderlecht are all tracking the situation. Three different leagues, three different angles, but nothing concrete yet.
Werder Bremen, though, has gone further than just taking a look. The German club is said to be considering a bid to Angers. One condition is still holding things up: Bremen must sell a player before it can make its move.
Belkhdim is a technically gifted midfielder, known for reading the game and covering ground. The sort of player clubs go after when they want to tidy things up between the lines without blowing the budget.
Five million and a deal running to 2028
Angers have set the price at 5 million euros. The player is under contract until 2028, which leaves the club in a strong position to negotiate.
The transfer window closes in a few days. Bremen will have to sell quickly if it wants to buy.
