Brunner punished OM twice
Monaco beat Olympique de Marseille 2-0 on Sunday night at the Stade Louis-II, closing out the second round of Ligue 1. Paris Brunner scored both goals. The first came in the 13th minute, the second shortly after the restart.
The second summed up the German’s night. He picked up the ball, skipped past Geoffrey Kondogbia, got ahead of Conrad Egan-Riley and beat De Lange with a left-foot finish. It was his first brace in Ligue 1, and only his second appearance in the competition.
Willy Delajod took charge of the game. He had very little to do before the hour mark, with Marseille spending most of the half miles away from Monaco’s box.

OM head back from the Principality weakened
Marseille lost two players in three minutes. Geoffrey Kondogbia went off in the 58th minute, with Nayef Aguerd coming on. Tochukwu Nnadi then picked up an injury in the 61st. He hobbled back onto the pitch through grit alone, but OM were down to 10 for a spell.
Marseille were already without Igor Paixao and Leonardo Balerdi. The second half was better, though: Keyliane Abdallah forced Lukas Hradecky into action in the 47th minute, and Angel Gomes fired over soon after. By then, it was too late. The damage had been done.
Monaco go top, OM stay three points behind
Two games, two wins, six points. Monaco sit top of Ligue 1 after the second round. Marseille have three and are already watching the club from the Rock pull away.
The numbers tell the story of Monaco’s control in midfield. Vanderson recovered seven balls, more than anyone else on the pitch. Lamine Camara won four, Emerson three. Monaco never had to chase the game for long.
Brunner, meanwhile, has already landed two goals against OM in just his second Ligue 1 outing. The Stade Louis-II has seen plenty of promising forwards pass through. This one made his mark fast.
