Brighton ran out 5-0 winners at Coventry this afternoon. Charalampos Kostoulas broke the deadlock in the 35th minute. Mohammed Yalcouyé doubled the lead straight after the break, on 51. Pascal Groß converted a penalty on 70, Lewis Dunk made it four on 83 and Yasin Ayari wrapped it up in the 90th+4.
A forward, a midfielder, a veteran from the spot, a centre-back and a player off the bench. The threat does not come from one man at Brighton. It comes from everywhere.

Thirty-five minutes of resistance
Coventry held firm for a while. The 0-0 was still on the board, the home side were sticking to the plan, and then Kostoulas found the opening.
The second goal, six minutes after the restart, settled it. At 2-0 with 40 minutes left and the crowd gone quiet, there was no way back. The last three arrived in a game already finished, which does not stop them counting on goal difference.
Lewis Dunk scoring on 83 tells its own story. By then Brighton could push their defenders up without taking any real risk.

For Brighton, a win away from home on this scale is worth more than three points. The Seagulls are building a reputation as a side that can go anywhere and get a result, and that column in the table has a habit of deciding European places in May.
For Coventry, the message is harsher. Conceding five at home leaves a mark on a dressing room. The Midlands club need to move on quickly, because the gap between safety and the drop gets built in the autumn.
