A Marseille hopeful on Brest’s radar
Foot Mercato broke it late on Tuesday afternoon: Stade Brestois are making a move for Milan Leccese. The 17-year-old attacking midfielder is one of the brightest talents coming through Olympique de Marseille’s academy.
Brest officials have reportedly been working the deal for several days and have already tabled a long-term contract. The plan is plain enough: bring him straight into the first-team group rather than park him in the reserves. Nothing is signed. And time is very short, because the window shuts tonight.

Two assists in two games, and France already know his name
Leccese did not come out of nowhere. He was part of the France squad at the last Under-17 World Cup, a tournament European recruitment departments comb through obsessively.
This season he has two assists in two matches for Marseille’s Under-19s. Small sample, obviously. But the output was instant, and late-window moves are often built on exactly this kind of evidence, when a club wants a talent locked down before the price climbs.
For Marseille it is the familiar academy dilemma: hold on to a player who has not had a senior minute yet, or let him leave to go and find some.
Brest had already done business by lunchtime
Stade Brestois have not been hanging about. The club confirmed Romain Del Castillo’s move to Osasuna on Tuesday morning, for around 1 million euros. The winger leaves after five seasons, 151 appearances and a historic third-place Ligue 1 finish followed by a European campaign.
The contrast tells the story. One exit closing a chapter, one gamble on a player who is still 17. Whether Marseille let it happen is the only question left.
