Glenn puts a marker down
Aaron Glenn picked his words carefully on Tuesday and still said plenty. Breece Hall is “trending toward playing” in Sunday’s season opener at Tennessee, the New York Jets head coach told reporters, and the running back will be on the practice field this week.
“He’ll be practising this week,” Glenn confirmed. It is the first firm signal on Hall since he pulled up during a training camp session on August 17 with a groin injury.
Four weeks of rehabilitation, then, and the Jets recover their lead back with five days to spare before Week 1. Teams rarely volunteer that kind of language about a soft-tissue problem unless the medical staff has already seen enough in the rehab work.

What the Jets get back
Hall is 25 and has been the most productive part of this offence for four seasons. He has run for 3,398 yards and 18 touchdowns since New York took him in the second round of the 2022 draft out of Iowa State, an average of just over 60 rushing yards per game across 56 appearances. He has also caught 188 passes for 1,642 yards and nine scores, which is the number that keeps him on the field on third down.
The 2025 season produced his career high on the ground with 1,065 yards. That total earned him a three-year, $45.75 million extension in May, roughly $15.25 million per season. Only 50 of his 56 games have been starts, so the mileage sits lower than the raw production suggests, which matters for a back entering year five.
Missing him for a Week 1 road trip would have forced Glenn into a committee he has not tested in a competitive game.
A familiar face across the field
There is an extra layer to the fixture. Tennessee are coached this season by Robert Saleh, in his first year with the franchise. Saleh ran the Jets for three-plus seasons from 2021 to 2024, which covers every snap Hall has played in the league until now.
