Four games was all it took
Bologna confirmed on Wednesday morning that Domenico Tedesco has been sacked. The former Belgium boss had only arrived on the Rossoblu bench this summer. He did not even make it to the first international break of the season.
The club statement kept things polite. “Bologna FC 1909 announce that Domenico Tedesco has been relieved of his duties as first-team coach, and thank him sincerely for the work carried out with professionalism and expertise,” the Italian club said. Behind the formal wording sits a poor start and a 13 September defeat to Napoli that pushed the decision along.

Palladino signed through 2029
The replacement was already lined up. Raffaele Palladino has signed through 30 June 2029, a three-year deal in full. The Italian coach will take his first training session on Wednesday at 16:00 at the club’s training centre.
Palladino knows the Italian game. He began his coaching career at Monza before moving to Fiorentina, two clubs where he worked with lighter squads than the one he now inherits in Emilia-Romagna. Bologna have opted for a coach with Serie A mileage rather than another gamble from abroad, a year after doing the opposite with Tedesco.
A very quick reaction by Italian standards
The speed stands out. The first reports of Tedesco’s exit surfaced on Tuesday. Twenty-four hours later, the sack is done and the successor has signed. Not many Serie A clubs wrap up a managerial change that fast, especially this early in the season.
Then there’s the dressing room. Bologna have tasted European football in recent seasons and built a style that has helped them go toe-to-toe with the league’s bigger spenders. Changing voice after four games is a risk, because it can rip up that work and start from scratch. Palladino has three years to prove Bologna got it right, but the opening weeks will already tell us plenty.
