Mr Trash Talk lands in France : Patrick Beverley signs for Boulazac !
Buckle up and hide the floorboards. The wildest rumour of the summer is now official: Patrick Beverley has landed at Boulazac. BBD have just pulled off a major coup, landing one of the snarliest defenders in recent NBA history. Welcome to the Dordogne, Pat.
Boulazac fans had to look twice before trusting the tweet on Friday morning. At first it was written off as another bit of summer transfer nonsense, but the story quickly became real when Beverley himself posted a video on Instagram walking the streets of the city. A few hours later, the club’s official statement arrived: Boulazac Basket Dordogne have secured the signing of Patrick Beverley with a little over a month to go before the new season tips off. After last year’s Tony Snell coup, BBD have done it again and shown they have developed a taste for American star power in their second straight season at this level.

A 700-game NBA pit bull arrives in French basketball
At 38, the Chicago native comes into Betclic Elite with a CV longer than most and a trophy cabinet that commands respect. Drafted in 2009, he built a reputation as a fighter across seven different franchises, including the Rockets, Clippers and Bucks, before landing on the NBA All-Defensive First Team in 2017. He has more than 700 battles under his belt in North America, but what really defines him is the edge: barking, hounding, throwing opponents off rhythm and squeezing the life out of the opposing point guard until he wants out. France’s backcourts have been warned. Nights against BBD just got a lot harder.
A globe-trotter who knows the European rate
Anyone thinking Beverley is coming to the Dordogne to make up the numbers or sample the local delicacies has got it badly wrong. He knows Europe inside out. MVP of the EuroCup in 2012 with Spartak St Petersburg, and a former Dnipro and Olympiakos player early in his career, he is a throwback to old-school basketball. His more recent spells with Hapoel Tel Aviv and PAOK Thessaloniki show he still has plenty left in the tank, still averaging around 10 points while remaining a genuine threat from long range.
“With more than 700 NBA games under his belt, Pat arrives in the Dordogne to bring all his experience.”
Betclic Elite is about to heat up
Following in the footsteps of his countryman Tony Snell, now at Cholet, Pat Bev continues his career as a full-time basketball nomad. But this move is about more than a headline-grabbing signing. For Boulazac, the aim is clear: stay among the top teams in French basketball and avoid the usual yo-yo ride. With a player like Beverley setting the tone and locking down the defence, the Palio could become a pretty hostile place for visiting teams. Get the popcorn ready, because Betclic Elite has just gone up a few notches.
