A move on the horizon for 2029
Bayern Munich are already thinking about life after Harry Kane. According to BILD, Erling Haaland’s name is being floated internally as the ideal man to succeed the England captain in two or three years.
Nothing is advanced, nothing is signed. The German paper is painting a dream scenario, not an active file. Right now, the deal would be out of reach financially.
The ages set the frame. Kane has just turned 33. Haaland is 26. If the Norwegian were to arrive in Munich when the England man hangs up his Bayern boots, he would be 29. Still young enough for a striker of that calibre to cost a fortune, both in transfer fee and wages.

250 million that changes the conversation
What makes the talk less far-fetched than it was a year ago is cash. Entrepreneur Max Viessmann is set to buy 5% of Bayern for 250 million euros. The move values the German giants at around 5 billion and gives them immediate liquidity.
That is the shift BILD is pointing to. A Bayern side that was never structurally built to match Manchester City’s salary levels could become one. In time.
The club has long done things differently, preferring smart deals to reckless bidding wars. Kane himself arrived for a Bundesliga record fee, and even that exception sparked debate inside the club at the time.
A miss in 2022
Haaland is no stranger to Munich. Bayern tried to sign him back in 2022, when he was still at Borussia Dortmund. The Norwegian met the club’s chiefs before choosing Manchester City.
Four years on, the Bundesliga is still watching. BILD describes him as Kane’s “heir apparent”.
Two questions remain. Would Manchester City ever agree to let their striker go to Germany? And would Haaland even want to return to a league he left in search of something bigger? Not a story for this season.
