Seven goals and a perfect six from six
FC Barcelona beat Racing Santander 7-2 at Camp Nou last night in matchday six of La Liga. Hansi Flick’s side keep their perfect league record intact and are now averaging 4.5 goals a game. The numbers do the talking: at this rate, the Spanish champions would finish the season well past 170 goals.
Cancelo opened the night in the 8th minute with a long-range strike that rattled the bar before going in. The Portuguese full-back, handed a start on the left in place of Gerard Martin, did it again in the 36th from even farther out. Two stunners from a player who had a point to prove in the rotation. Flick also handed Adeyemi a start and went with Christensen over Cubarsi in the middle.

Raphinha runs the show, but the newcomers bite back
Raphinha bagged a hat-trick: a penalty he won himself in the first half, a finish set up by Dani Olmo in the 41st minute, and a second spot-kick converted in the 67th. He left to a standing ovation, replaced by Gabriel Jesus, who made it six with a curling effort under the bar in the 79th. Lamine Yamal, quiet all evening and guilty of missing a penalty in the 45th, finally got on the scoresheet in the 89th after a pass from Adeyemi.
Racing did not roll over. The promoted side, sitting comfortably in mid-table before kick-off, cut the deficit in the 30th through Maguette after an Aaron Martin run and a lay-off from Villalibre. Their second came gift-wrapped: after coming on at half-time for Joan Garcia, Szczesny got in a mess with a back pass from Gerard Martin and allowed Zabiri to prod the ball home in the 65th.
Real Madrid cannot afford a slip
The day before, Real Madrid edged past Elche 3-2 away from home. It was a scrap, not the kind of rout Barca served up here. The contrast between the two midweek fixtures could hardly be sharper.
Yassir Zabiri, who had scored five times early in the season for Racing, started on the bench. He leaves Camp Nou with a goal and a rising reputation. For Flick, the bigger question is simple enough: who is going to stop this team?
