That is the line on Cesc Fabregas’s CV that has people in the Barcelona offices talking. Como were a second-tier Italian club when he took over. They are in Europe now.
No succession plan exists at Barcelona. Hansi Flick is the manager, under contract to 2028 with an option beyond it, and he has already delivered two Spanish titles since arriving to put the club back on top. The board want this run to keep going.
They are still thinking about what comes next. Catalan daily Sport reports one name keeps surfacing internally, and it belongs to a former Barca midfielder who came through La Masia and played there again between 2011 and 2014.

The squad value at Como is reported to have climbed from roughly 31 million euros to 535 million across his time in charge. Numbers like that travel fast.
Three things dominate the internal read on him: how his teams play, how he sets up for individual matches, and what happens to players once they work with him. The stylistic fit with Barcelona hardly needs explaining.
There has already been contact of a sort. Sport says a senior club figure passed him a message: if he ever decides to leave Como, come to Barcelona first, before anyone else. No contract, no promise, just a marker put down.
The call nobody is making yet
Flick is preparing a squad built to go deep in the Champions League. Nothing about the present job is in question.
Fabregas is 39 and the bigger clubs in Europe have noticed what he did in Italy. His name circulates well outside Catalonia now, which is exactly why Barcelona moved when they did.
The whole thing rests on timing. While Flick keeps winning, the subject does not exist. The day he leaves, the number is already in someone’s phone.
