A loan that keeps the conveyor belt moving
Genesis Antwi has swapped Chelsea for Strasbourg. The young midfielder, schooled at Cobham, joins the Alsace club on loan. The deal was confirmed yesterday.
This is no one-off. Antwi is the 14th player to travel from Chelsea to Strasbourg since BlueCo took over the French side in 2023. He is also the first pure academy product to make that trip on loan.

The multi-club model in full swing
There is a plan behind the move. BlueCo owns both Chelsea and Strasbourg, and it is using Ligue 1 as a testing ground for its kids. French football hands them minutes and a proper examination, without tossing them straight into the Premier League furnace.
Strasbourg do fine out of it. They land high-ceiling players without paying a transfer fee. Both sides win, so long as the results keep landing on the pitch.
A long-term bet
What Antwi makes of this season in Alsace is anyone’s guess. Young players shipped out of London have had wildly mixed fortunes. The loan hands him a shop window. Now he has to fill it before any return to Chelsea comes up for discussion.
