A shooting case that finally has an ending
Two gunshots. A boxing gala in Miami. A charge that once threatened three decades behind bars. Antonio Brown’s legal saga is winding down.
His attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, confirmed the arrangement with Florida prosecutors this week. On Wednesday, 30 September, Brown will plead no contest to a reduced charge of aggravated assault. Probation replaces prison. No conviction lands on his record.

Why he took the deal
Eiglarsh didn’t pretend it was simple. Brown maintains he did nothing wrong, his lawyer said, insisting the shots were fired in self-defense. But the math was brutal: a second-degree attempted murder conviction could have carried up to 30 years. Even a lenient outcome at trial still meant a two-decade minimum.
That gap between what Brown believes and what a jury might decide made the choice for him.
Sixteen months from gunfire to guilty plea
The trouble started on 16 May 2025, after an amateur boxing event in Miami. Brown allegedly fired twice at Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu. He pleaded not guilty once authorities brought him back from Dubai in November 2025, leaning on Florida’s self-defense statute. His team argued the shots never came close to the target.
Nantambu has since said he’s forgiven Brown and wants no part in pushing the prosecution forward. Before any of that, Brown spent nearly six months in the United Arab Emirates until U.S. marshals tracked him down in Dubai. He returned to Florida through New Jersey, posted $25,000 bail, and had a GPS monitor strapped to his ankle.
The receiver nobody could ignore, on or off the field
Seven Pro Bowls. Four All-Pro selections. Twelve seasons that included a Super Bowl ring with Tampa Bay. Brown built a resume that ranks among the best at his position, even as his off-field chaos grew louder than his highlight reel.
One moment still defines the unraveling. In January 2022, he tore off his jersey mid-game against the Jets and walked off the field, ending his run with the Buccaneers on the spot. He hasn’t played an NFL down since.
