OM have no plan to keep Angel Gomes. The 25-year-old midfielder will not be retained if an offer comes in, according to L’Equipe. Bruno Genesio is not really counting on him, and his wages are part of the equation. Signed on a free transfer a year ago, the former Lille man never found a permanent home on the Canebiere.
His last six months had already pushed him further away from Marseille. Loaned to Wolverhampton for the second half of last season, Gomes failed to make much of an impact. The backdrop was hardly ideal: Wolves ended up going down.

A return to England is taking shape
The Premier League is still keeping an eye on him. Again, according to L’Equipe, Coventry have asked about him. The club, promoted to the top flight this season, would like the attacking midfielder to add some bite in the middle of the park. And Gomes himself would be keen on a move back across the Channel.
There is plenty to like about the profile. A former Lille player who once looked the part, Gomes is still a technician who can unlock a game. His stock has dipped after a rough spell at Wolves, but a clear project could get him going again. For OM, a sale would ease the wage bill. Nothing has been decided yet.
