Las Vegas snaps Washington’s run
Seven straight wins. All momentum, all belief. Then the Aces pulled the plug. Las Vegas beat Washington 86-76 at home last night and ended the Mystics’ best stretch of the season.
One player sat at the center of it. A’ja Wilson piled up 26 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks, her 17th double-double of the year. She owned the paint at both ends, and the MVP talk went quiet for a night.

Wilson and Young do the damage
She had help. Jackie Young poured in 25 points and dished eight assists. Two scorers north of 25 is usually more than any defense can solve. Washington spent the night confirming it.
The bigger story sits underneath the box score. Las Vegas started the season in fits and starts, and plenty of people had begun writing the Aces off. Nights like this are Wilson’s answer, the kind she has been giving for years.
For the Mystics, the hole was too deep. They chipped at it, never climbed out. The streak is gone, but so is any reason to panic. Washington still has a roster that wins games.
What it means for Vegas
Beating a team riding a seven-game surge, and doing it by ten, is no small thing in August. The Aces needed the reminder as much as the standings did. Whether they build on it is the only question that matters now.
