Questionable, then dominant
A’ja Wilson carried a questionable tag into Sunday with a back problem. She played
anyway, and Toronto spent the next two hours regretting it.
Wilson finished with 27 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists as Las Vegas won 88-78 against the Tempo. Jackie Young chipped in 21. The Aces are 26-13 with two straight wins in the bank.
The fourth quarter settled it. Vegas took a nine-point cushion into the last 10 minutes, pushed it to 16, then to 18 on a Mai Yamamoto three with 6:04 showing. Wilson made it a 20-point game from the line with 3:48 left.

Toronto had this within two in the third
The Tempo were not a pushover. Wilson scored 9 of Las Vegas’ 25 first-quarter points and the visitors led 25-22 after one, but Toronto closed the half on a 6-0 run to sit within four at 43-39.
Their best moment came after the break. An Isabelle Harrison layup with 7:51 left in the third trimmed it to two. Vegas immediately ran off nine unanswered and the lead was back to 11 before Toronto could react.
Kia Nurse led the home side with 19 off the bench. Kiki Rice had 14, Temi Fagbenle 13, Harrison 12 with 7 boards, Laura Juskaite 11. Toronto falls to 11-26, three days after finally snapping a 12-game losing run against Portland.
Both training rooms are filling up
Las Vegas did not escape clean. Starting center NaLyssa Smith needed help leaving the floor with 3:08 to go in the third after a knee injury. She had 8 points and 8 rebounds in 19 minutes and did not come back.
Toronto’s list is worse. Julie Allemand sat out the second half with a head injury after scoring 3. She joins Marina Mabrey, Brittney Sykes, Aneesah Morrow, Maria Conde and Nyara Sabally, all unavailable on Sunday. Six players out and a roster that is running on fumes with the season winding down.
