Glenn backs his safety
Aaron Glenn has come out in defense of Minkah Fitzpatrick. The Jets coach said Monday that his safety “is not a dirty player” after a helmet-to-helmet hit on Cleveland Browns rookie receiver KC Concepcion.
“He’s never been a dirty player,” Glenn said. He described the play as “bang-bang,” saying Fitzpatrick first tried to use his shoulder.

Two flags on one drive
The hit came in the first quarter. Fitzpatrick had already been flagged for a facemask earlier on the same drive, then drew a second penalty for hitting a defenseless receiver. Concepcion went down, and Fitzpatrick’s helmet struck the turf with full impact on the way.
The rookie got up and walked off under his own power. He posted on Instagram after the game that he was okay.
Browns see no intent
Browns coach Todd Monken did not push back. He said he saw no intent to injure and also called it a bang-bang play.
Nothing has been reported on a fine, suspension or league review. Fitzpatrick is a defender who already missed time this season with a groin injury suffered on opening day in Nashville.
