NHL: Kraken Rout Flames 6-1 in Season Opener

Seattle scores three in the first and never looks back

The Seattle Kraken opened their 2026-27 season with a 6-1 win over the Calgary Flames on Thursday night, and the home side had little to show for it. The result was the worst home-opening defeat in Flames franchise history.

Seattle scored three times in the first period and added more in the third. Vince Dunn had a goal and three points, Jared McCann piled up three assists, and Kaapo Kakko and Matty Beniers each had a goal and an assist. Jordan Eberle, Freddy Gaudreau and Chandler Stephenson also scored.

Daccord steady, Wolf left exposed

Goaltender Joey Daccord made 24 saves and picked up an assist of his own. At the other end, Dustin Wolf stopped 26 shots but could not keep the game from slipping away early. Ryan Strome finally got Calgary on the board in the third period, long after the outcome was settled.

There is a quick chance for the Flames to answer. Both teams play another opponent on Saturday, then meet again Sunday in Seattle.
