A sixth straight win, and their spot is secure
Las Vegas beat the Sparks 89-79. It was a sixth win on the spin for the Aces, who move to 30 wins and 13 defeats. That result guarantees them at least third place in the standings, and with it home-court advantage in the opening round of the playoffs.
The game was basically decided early. Las Vegas ripped off a 15-0 start to surge to 17-5. The Sparks answered with an 11-point run to cut the gap to six, 35-29, before the Aces grabbed control again. By the end of the third quarter, the lead was already up to 18 points, 63-45.

Wilson leads the way, Young runs the show
A’ja Wilson finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Chelsea Gray added 17 points. Stephanie Talbot scored 14, as did Jackie Young, who also handed out 11 assists. It was a spread of responsibility that underlined the depth of a roster now settled on its fate in the regular season.
Nneka Ogwumike led the Sparks with 17 points, while Erica Wheeler chipped in 16. Not nearly enough against a Las Vegas side that was barely troubled for most of the night.
Los Angeles short-handed
The Sparks played without Dearica Hamby or Cameron Brink, both injured. That double blow cut into their rotation and hurt their chances of hanging around in the third quarter, when Las Vegas pulled clear. For the Aces, the only real question now is not whether they will be in the playoffs, but what sort of advantage they will carry into them.
