Seattle and Salt Lake, same sense of urgency
Thirteen matches without a win for Seattle. Twelve for Salt Lake. The two sides meet Wednesday night, both desperate for the kind of spark that’s become non-negotiable at this point in the season.
Seattle sit 13th in the Western Conference, three points off the playoff line, after eight straight losses followed by five straight draws. “Every match is a chance to pick up points, and taking three at home is vital,” coach Brian Schmetzer said.

Squad problems on both sides
Dejan Joveljic and Snyder Brunell are away on international duty for the Sounders. Pedro de la Vega and Paul Rothrock remain out with hamstring issues. Jordan Morris, though, could be back in the mix after a minor scare in Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Colorado.
Real Salt Lake aren’t faring any better. Sitting 12th in the conference, the club is missing Juan Manuel Sanabria to international duty, while defenders Lukas Engel and Justen Glad nurse injuries of their own.
Luna’s out, Solans leads the line
Diego Luna’s season is over after meniscus surgery. Sergi Solans remains the club’s top scorer with nine goals. Two teams, 29 points apiece, one playoff spot up for grabs. Wednesday night should sharpen that race considerably.
