Olivia Miles walked into Connecticut this afternoon level with Caitlin Clark on 769 points, the most any rookie has scored in a WNBA season. She took the record half a minute into the second quarter, drew a foul from Sun guard Ashlon Jackson, and made the first of two free throws with 9:31 on the clock. The Lynx went on to win 101-89.
Miles finished with 21 points. Napheesa Collier led Minnesota with 23. By the break Miles had eight points, five assists and a steal, which is roughly what she has produced all season without anyone treating it as unusual anymore.
The No. 2 pick in the 2026 draft came into the game averaging 19.7 points, 6.0 assists and 4.7 rebounds. Minnesota holds the best record in the league, and her arrival explains a large part of that.

The number needs context, and it still holds up
Clark set her mark across 40 games in 2024. The WNBA plays 44 now, so Miles has had more chances at the record than Clark ever did. Anyone dismissing the record on that basis should check the rate: Miles is scoring at 19.7 per game, Clark averaged 19.2 in her rookie year. She was going to pass it either way.
Two games remain on Minnesota’s schedule, which means the final figure is still moving. Whatever it lands on becomes the number the next rookie class chases, and the league has produced three consecutive draft classes capable of chasing it.
Connecticut has spent the season rebuilding and had little to defend beyond pride. The Sun stayed within range into the fourth before Minnesota pulled clear, a pattern that has defined much of their year.
Minnesota look ready
The Lynx close the regular season with the top seed effectively secured and a rookie guard playing the best basketball of anyone in her class. Collier scoring 23 on a day the headlines belong to someone else is its own signal about where this roster stands.
Miles will start her first postseason in a matter of days, carrying a record that took Clark a full season and a national television obsession to set.
