Amed SK vs Besiktas: the newcomers who have stormed the Super Lig 
Ten goals in three home games. Amed SK have not just survived their arrival in Turkey’s top flight, they have kicked the door down.
The Diyarbakir side host Besiktas this Sunday, 20 September, at 19:00 Paris time in the sixth round of the Super Lig.
Third with 10 points from five matches, Amed have won all three home games. Besiktas sit just above them in second with 12 points and four wins from five.
Two points separate the teams before kick-off. A home win would put the hosts above their visitors in the table.
The Black Eagles arrive on a roll: four straight wins in all competitions, including a 4-1 demolition of Marseille on Thursday in the Europa League.
Amed are flying too, unbeaten in three. Two wins sit either side of a 2-2 draw at Kasimpasa.
The two clubs have never met in the Super Lig, which makes this a first at the top level. The only previous competitive meeting came in a Turkish Cup tie won 4-0 by Besiktas on this very pitch.
The trip comes just three days after Besiktas’ European match. On a ground this hostile, fatigue could be a real factor.
Diyarbakir Stadium has quickly become one of the toughest places to go in the country. No away side has picked up a point there this season. Can Besiktas handle it?

Amed’s last outing was a statement: 5-0 against Istanbul Basaksehir.
An own goal from Emin Bayram opened the scoring just before the break, then Gift Orban racked up a hat-trick in 23 minutes.
Mbaye Diagne added another late on. The newcomers have now scored ten times in just three home matches.
Orban is up to six goals this season, five of them in his last two appearances. He is the man who changes games for this side.
Their home record is spotless: three wins from three. Trabzonspor were also beaten there, 2-1, at the end of August.
The first of those wins, a 3-0 success against Erzurumspor, set the tone on opening weekend. Nobody saw that start coming.
Their only slip this season came away from home, a 2-0 defeat at Kocaelispor. In front of their own fans, Besnik Hasi’s side have not given an inch.
Hasi will be without Yira Sor, while Dilhan Demir is still recovering from an ACL injury. Dia Saba should play just behind Orban, as he did against Basaksehir.
Across the last five league matches, Amed have failed to score only once, in that defeat at Kocaelispor. At home, they have scored in every game.

Besiktas, a machine at home and doubts on the road 
Besiktas come into this off the best performance of their season. Four goals in Marseille, three of them after the break with the game level at 1-1 at half-time.
Before that European burst, Vincenzo Italiano’s side beat Erzurumspor 3-0 in the league. A 6-2 win over Corum rounds off the sequence.
The 2-1 derby win at Fenerbahce remains the benchmark of their season so far. It also showed this Istanbul side can handle pressure.
Their weakness, though, is away from home. Their only two defeats this campaign have both come on the road: 1-0 at Alanyaspor in the league and 1-0 at Kauno Zalgiris in Europe.
They have won only one away match by more than a single goal since August. The contrast with their home form is hard to ignore.
The attack is humming, with 15 goals in their last four matches. No Turkish defence has found a way to shut it down lately.
Dusan Vlahovic leads the line, with Orkun Kokcu and Salih Ozcan controlling midfield. That’s the spine that put Marseille to the sword.
Vaclav Cerny is still a doubt after going off early on Thursday, and Leandro Trossard remains unavailable. Italiano is expected to stick largely with the side that started in the Europa League.
The current run is still impressive for Besiktas, with four straight wins in all competitions. Not many Turkish teams can match that kind of momentum right now.

Amed have scored in all three of their home games, and not just once or twice: 10 goals in total, five of them in their most recent outing.
Besiktas, meanwhile, have found the net in their last four matches, with 15 goals across that run.
Their away defence is not exactly watertight, either: two goals conceded at Corum, another at Marseille on Thursday. Amed have also shipped two at Kasimpasa and one against Trabzonspor.
Orban on one side, Vlahovic on the other, two hot attacks and two back lines that leak chances: this should produce goals at both ends. BTTS looks the play.
