Eight drives, eight touchdowns
Oregon scored a touchdown on all eight of its first possessions. Then it kept going. In all, 12 of the Ducks’ 13 offensive drives ended in the end zone in a brutal 84-0 rout of Portland State on Friday in Eugene.
Those 84 points set a new Autzen Stadium scoring record. The previous mark came in 2023. It was 81 points, and it had already been set against the same opponent.
Dante Moore got most of the damage done before halftime. Four touchdown passes, four different receivers, all in one half. Jordon Davison added two rushing scores and 81 yards on the ground in those first 30 minutes.

Portland State had no answer
For the Vikings, it was a nightmare from start to finish. Gabe Downing completed eight of 20 passes for 101 yards. He also threw three interceptions, with Jett Washington hauling in two of them.
The result extends a rough run for Portland State, which is now 0-4. The program plays in the FCS, the lower division, and its all-time record against FBS opponents tells the story: four wins and 52 defeats.
These kinds of matchups are part of the American schedule every year. Big programs buy a home date early in the season, and the score line says very little about the real gap between the two teams.
A season that still needs fixing
Still, the way it happens matters. Oregon had already lost once this season and is now 2-1. So this offensive feast comes at a useful time for the Ducks, who were ranked 21st going into the weekend.
The game was non-conference, so it carries little weight in the standings. But it did give Oregon snaps and a few answers for an attack that needed a confidence boost after a mixed start to the season.
The real test comes later, against defenses that can actually hold on for more than one series. For now, Autzen Stadium has a new record.
