Three runs in one inning, and everything flips
The Texas Rangers beat Boston 7-3 on Wednesday night in Arlington. The seventh inning settled it.
Brandon Nimmo kicked off the burst with an RBI double that brought Corey Seager home for 4-3. Ezequiel Duran then piled on with a two-run single, with Jake Burger and Nimmo scoring. 6-3. All three runs were charged to reliever Erik Miller.
Nate Eovaldi did the rest. Four scoreless innings out of the bullpen, just one hit allowed, and the win to go with it. His record moves to 11-9.

76-76, and still tied for first
The key detail is sitting in the standings. Texas is 76-76 and has joined Houston at the top of the American League West. A team that has balanced itself perfectly and still finds itself first just about sums up this division.
There is a catch, though, and it matters. The Astros still hold the tiebreaker if the two teams finish level. So the Rangers need to finish ahead, not merely even.
For Boston, the night turned sour after the perfect start. Willson Contreras opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the first inning off MacKenzie Gore, his 27th of the season and the best total on the roster. The Red Sox never really recovered, finishing with just three hits.
Thirteen hits and a lineup back in gear
Texas racked up 13 hits. Josh Jung had three, Burger and Justin Foscue two apiece. It was a stop-start game, with two ties before the decisive burst.
Boston (82-70) remains five games clear of the Chicago White Sox in the race for the second American League wild-card spot. The series wraps up on Thursday.
