Real Betis vs Getafe: nine points to four, five goals to two 
Real Betis have taken nine points from a possible 12 in La Liga, while Getafe have managed four. The gap is even wider up front: five goals scored on one side, two on the other.
Kick-off for this sixth-round clash is set for Thursday, September 17 at 7:00 pm CEST in Seville. It rounds off La Liga’s midweek programme before the international break.
The Andalusians arrive with the best possible calling card: a 1-0 win over Real Madrid on September 4, sealed by Troy Parrott in the 81st minute. So far, it is the only league defeat Real Madrid have suffered this season.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side backed that up four days later with a 3-2 win away to Lille in their return to the Champions League league phase. Marc Bartra scored twice before Parrott delivered again.
That return to the European stage matters. Betis had not been in the competition since the 2005-06 group stage. Juggling three fronts changes the feel of a Thursday night league game.
Getafe, by contrast, are moving at a far more sluggish pace. One win, one draw and two defeats leave the Madrid outskirts club in 14th place.
Their latest point came on September 7, when they drew 1-1 at home with Celta Vigo after Martín Satriano struck in the 21st minute. It sums up their season neatly enough: score early, then hang on.
Both teams come into this one with a midweek match in their legs, Betis having been at Villarreal on Monday and Getafe hosting Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday. Managing the workload will matter.
Pellegrini has a decision to make between freshness and continuity, though his squad has already shown it can cope with this kind of schedule. Getafe do not have the European issue, but they are working with a thinner group.
That leaves little room for error on either side, for very different reasons. The first 15 minutes should tell us a lot about the real energy levels of both teams.
The table also gives the game an uneven edge. Betis are trying to stay in the European chase; Getafe are simply trying not to slip further behind.

Three wins in four La Liga matches, with only one defeat: Betis have the look of a team going places. Fifth in the table, they are only three points off the pace at the top.
It has not all been smooth, though. After back-to-back 1-0 wins over Real Sociedad and at Valencia, the Andalusians were thumped 5-2 at Levante on August 30.
The response was immediate and emphatic. Beating Real Madrid 1-0 a week after conceding five says plenty about the group’s ability to reset.
Troy Parrott is the man in form. The Ireland striker scored the winner against Real Madrid, then repeated the trick on his Champions League debut in Lille.
Marc Bartra is right there with him. The defender scored twice at Stade Pierre-Mauroy and has found the net in each of his last three appearances.
That threat from set pieces is a huge weapon against a low block. Getafe defend in exactly that style and give up plenty from dead-ball situations.
On the injury front, Aitor Ruibal is still recovering from a knee problem picked up at the end of last season. Diego Llorente is expected to wear a mask after breaking his nose against Real Madrid.
Abde Ezzalzouli is available again and Antony was reported to have recovered from illness. Pellegrini therefore has almost a full squad for his third game in a week.

Getafe: two goals in four matches, and the problem is obvious 
Getafe have scored two goals in four La Liga games. No other side in the division has a weaker attacking return over that stretch.
The defensive record is not a disaster, with just five goals conceded. The issue is the chronic inability to turn chances into anything useful.
Four points from four matches leave the club 14th, just two points above the drop zone. The margin is tiny, and it shrinks every week without a win.
The 1-1 draw with Celta Vigo on September 7 underlined the problem. Martín Satriano gave them the lead in the 21st minute before Carl Starfelt equalised on the hour.
They had the game in hand and still could not find a second goal, simply because there is not enough punch in the side. That pattern keeps coming back.
The identity remains the same: a compact unit, heavy on midfield work and duels. Getafe have built their survival on that model and they have not changed it this summer.
Away from home, that approach runs into trouble against sides who can pin them back. Betis fit that description perfectly at home.
The key question is how long Getafe can keep this at 0-0. Once they fall behind, there is very little evidence they can force their way back.

Betis are coming off a win over Real Madrid and a victory in Lille in the Champions League. The momentum is there, and it is being driven by two in-form scorers, Parrott and Bartra.
Bartra’s threat from set pieces is especially relevant against a low block that gives away plenty of corners and free kicks. These are often the kind of games that open up that way.
