The price has gone up
Twelve days. That is all it took for Lamine Camara to add 15 million euros to his valuation.
On September 1, Chelsea thought they had a deal. The figure was around 55 M€, after an opening bid had already been knocked back. Then Monaco pulled the plug in the final hours of the window, right when Folarin Balogun’s move to Everton also collapsed. The Senegal international stayed on the Rock.
Now, according to British journalist Ben Jacobs, ASM believe they could fetch around 70 million for him. That was the original asking price, before the club dropped to 55 during talks.

Six matches to justify the bill
Camara has done nothing to hurt his case. Six appearances in all competitions since the restart, six full games, one goal and one assist. At 22, he is a guaranteed starter in Monaco’s midfield.
His contract runs until 2029. Monaco have no need to sell, and Jacobs says the club would now like to keep him. Not a bad position to be in.
The player himself has already moved on in public. Two days ago, he said talking about an exit now would suggest he is no longer fully focused on the team in front of him.
Chelsea have not gone away, Liverpool join the hunt
The Blues are said to be keeping the file open for January. But they are no longer alone. Liverpool are also said to be very interested in the Senegal midfielder, and could be one of Chelsea’s biggest rivals for his signature.
Two Premier League clubs chasing the same player rarely helps keep the fee down. Chelsea are also looking at other midfield options, including Manu Kone at Roma. Still, what happened on September 1 has left a mark in London, where they thought they had the signing lined up before it vanished in a matter of hours.
