Braga vs Estoril Praia: four straight home shutouts against two goals in five games 
Braga have not conceded in their last four home games in all competitions, scoring eight times in the process.
Estoril Praia head to the Estadio Municipal de Braga with just two goals in five Primeira Liga matches.
Those numbers frame matchday six in the Portuguese top flight, set for Monday September 14 at 9:45 pm Paris time.
The hosts do, though, come in off their first defeat of the season, a 2-1 loss at Estrela da Amadora on Thursday in a rearranged third-round fixture.
Gabri Martinez had put them ahead after five minutes before the game turned. It was played in Alverca after Liga Portugal suspended the pitch at Jose Gomes.
Estoril, 17th and second from bottom, have not won in the top flight for 13 league matches. The gap in form between these two sides is far wider than Braga’s latest result suggests.
The table needs a bit of context: Braga have played only four league games so far, while most of their rivals have played five, with their home meeting with Gil Vicente postponed.
Their European run has also kept them busy all summer, with a 0-0 draw at Dinamo Minsk followed by a two-leg tie with Austria Vienna, finished off with a 2-0 home win and a 0-0 draw away.
That schedule goes some way to explaining Thursday’s setback, their first of the season after an unbeaten start.
Braga, a home fortress and a midweek stumble 
Braga are eighth with seven points from four games, with their home fixture against Gil Vicente still to be played.
Nine matches unbeaten at the start of the 2026-2027 campaign in all competitions. SC Braga’s well-oiled machine finally coughed at Estrela da Amadora, going down 2-1. It was the first real setback for Carlos Vicens’ side and it snapped a perfect run.

The contrast in their two faces is stark: four straight home wins, eight goals scored and four clean sheets in that run.
The stated aim remains a podium finish after last season’s fourth place, which turned into a Conference League spot when Torreense lifted the Portuguese Cup by beating Sporting CP.
Vicens will be without captain Ricardo Horta and Jean-Baptiste Gorby. Sikou Niakate is still recovering from the Achilles rupture he suffered in April, while Denis Huseinbasic is a doubt.
The headline stat from those four home matches says it all: eight scored, none conceded.
That record is built on a settled back line, even with Vicens missing a few key attacking players at Braga.
Horta’s absence hurts the creativity, but Gabri Martinez showed on Thursday he can step up, scoring after just five minutes.

Estoril Praia, 13 games without a win 
Estoril still have not won a competitive match under Vasco Matos, who took charge this summer.
The run stretches well beyond his time in the dugout: 13 league games without a win, with their last success coming on matchday 26 of last season against Nacional under Ian Cathro.
There is little mystery about their start to the campaign: a 1-1 draw with Famalicao, 2-0 defeats at Nacional and at home to Rio Ave, a 2-1 loss at Benfica, then a 0-0 draw with Arouca.
That point against Arouca stopped a three-game losing run, but it did not fix the bigger problem.
With two goals scored, the Canaries are only above bottom side Casa Pia, who have managed just one.
Away from home, Estoril are now six league trips without a win, with two draws and four defeats. One of those draws was that 1-1 escape on this very ground.
Three late summer signings could make their league debuts: left-back Roko Jurisic, midfielder Milan Robin and winger Nail Omerovic. Xavi Sintes, signed from Cordoba this summer, has yet to play and is still troubled by a knee issue.
This is a club in rebuild mode, badly, with a coach who has yet to find the right formula.
Vasco Matos inherited a reshaped squad and a negative mood already hanging over the place from the back half of last season.
The 10th-place finish under Ian Cathro looks a long way off now: Estoril sit 17th out of 18.
