Four of the top five scorers were owned by almost nobody
Gameweek 3 punished the crowd. Tyrick Mitchell, Jayden Bogle, Luka Vuskovic and Harvey Barnes tore through mini-leagues while everyone else was busy captaining Alexander Isak. Four of the round’s five biggest hauls came from players sitting in fewer than 2.5% of squads. Opta has gone back through the underlying numbers and pulled out five names owned by under 10% of teams heading into Gameweek 4.
Anan Khalaili is the most extreme of them. Just 0.2% ownership. The Crystal Palace wing-back still produced 0.72 expected goals against Fulham, more than anyone else in the side, including Mitchell, who scored twice off 0.66. Whether Mitchell repeats that is another question: his previous two league goals came 80 matches apart.

Two five-million defenders doing very different jobs
Tarik Muharemović has settled quickly at Leeds. Thirty-nine clearances, interceptions, tackles and blocks since the opening weekend, a tally only Hull City’s John Egan tops among defenders in the division, and he sits on 41. Leeds have Newcastle and Palace at home next, back to back, at a ground where only four sides bettered their six home clean sheets last season. Joe Rodon’s injury has removed the last doubt about whether Muharemović starts.
Emiliano Buendía is the gamble. Aston Villa have not scored a league goal all season and have registered one shot on target. One. The Argentine has still taken six shots himself, more than any team-mate, for 0.78 expected goals, and he has already scored against Bruges in the Champions League. At six million, getting it wrong costs very little.
Gomez shoots more than anyone at Brighton, and Havertz is the outlier
Diego Gomez has had 12 attempts, double the next Brighton player. His 0.7 expected assists lead the squad too. Two assists already, against Villa and Chelsea, at five million.
Kai Havertz does not really belong in a list like this. He is starting up front for the champions and has 16 points from three rounds. Only Joao Pedro on 21, Isak on 23 and Erling Haaland on 24 have scored more among forwards, and all three cost more and sit above 10% ownership. The catch is Mikel Arteta. With the Champions League back, a rest is on the table.
