AS Rome have scored ten goals in three Serie A matchdays and have conceded just once. No other club in Italy can match that kind of start after a month of the season.
That record puts the Giallorossi top of the table on nine points from nine. Torino have three and sit 13th.
The game closes out round four on Monday, 14 September, at 18:30 at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino. Lega Serie A moved it from Sunday at 12:30 to Monday evening.
The reason is simple enough: Roma opened their Champions League league phase the previous Thursday away to Fenerbahce. The league gave the clubs involved in Europe extra recovery time before domestic action resumed.
The venue situation has changed too. The authorities have banned tickets in the away section for residents of the Rome province, which will leave the Roma end empty on Monday night.
So the big question is this: can Ignazio Abate’s Torino take advantage of the European hangover in front of them? Their first three league games have not offered much evidence they can.

Torino have picked up three points from three games, with one win and two defeats. Four goals scored, five conceded.
That negative difference leaves the Piedmont club down in 13th, only a point above the sort of places that start to make people nervous. Three points from three matches is the sort of pace that usually leads to a long, grim fight near the bottom.
Ignazio Abate took charge on 12 June 2026, the same day Roberto D’Aversa left. He has gone with a 3-4-2-1 that asks plenty of the wing-backs.
Lucas Perri is in goal behind a back line made up of Pietro Comuzzo, Saul Coco and Eray Cömert in their most recent outing. Five goals conceded in three matches is more than one a game for a unit that is supposed to be the foundation of the whole project.
In midfield, Rolando Mandragora and Kian Fitz-Jim form the double pivot, with Niccolo Fortini and Alessio Cacciamani wide. There is plenty of running, not nearly enough invention.
Up front, Nikola Vlasic plays off the pair of Che Adams and Giovanni Simeone. Club captain Duvan Zapata had to make do with a place on the bench last time out.
The key number for Monday is still the attacking output. Four goals in three games against a defence that has conceded just once since 22 August is a tough ask.
One thing does work in Torino’s favour: they have had a full week to prepare, with no Europe and no long trip. Roma will not be able to say the same.

AS Rome have won all three of their opening Serie A matches. Ten goals scored, one conceded, no slip-ups.
They have posted the two biggest wins in the league so far this season. A 4-0 home win over Fiorentina on 24 August, then another 4-0 away at Lecce on 31 August.
Mile Svilar has kept two clean sheets, a total matched only by Christos Mandas and Guglielmo Vicario in Serie A. This defence is not a mirage; the numbers back it up.
At the other end, Donyell Malen leads the league scoring charts with five goals. The Dutchman smashed a hat-trick against Fiorentina, the only treble seen in Serie A since the restart.
No other player in Italy’s top flight has passed two goals in the same stretch. The gap between Malen and the pack says as much about his form as it does about the lopsided attacking picture in Serie A early on.
Gian Piero Gasperini has settled on a 3-4-2-1, with Paulo Dybala and Rodrigo Mora tasked with feeding Malen. Manu Kone and Bryan Cristante run the midfield, while Gianluca Mancini, Evan Ndicka and Mario Hermoso make up the back three.
The trip to Istanbul on Thursday is the only real question mark hanging over the Rome camp. A high-intensity European night always leaves a mark, even on a deep squad.
That fatigue was factored in by the league, which pushed the match from Sunday lunchtime to Monday evening. Gasperini gets roughly 30 extra hours of recovery that he would not have had under the original schedule.

Moving the game to Monday night takes away Torino’s best argument, namely freshness. Roma head into this one with recovery time close to a normal week.
Donyell Malen arrives with five goals and a defence in front of him that is allowing more than one per game. The Giallorossi should leave Piedmont with all three points.
