Nothing for 45 minutes, then five goals
Bayern Munich beat Bodo/Glimt 5-0 at the Allianz Arena. The scoreline is a poor guide to the first half, which the Norwegians survived while giving the Bavarians plenty to think about.
Luis Diaz had a sight of goal inside five minutes and then the chances dried up. Dayot Upamecano nearly turned one into his own net on 22 minutes under pressure. Haikin somehow denied Joshua Kimmich on 43 with a save that owed nothing to technique.
Vincent Kompany’s players went down the tunnel frustrated. Two minutes after they came back out, the match broke open.

Olise takes over
Jamal Musiala scored on 47 minutes, turning sharply and beating Lund, who had replaced Haikin at the interval. Harry Kane headed the second on 61 from a Michael Olise free kick that could not have been weighted better.
Alphonso Davies struck the third on 77, a fierce hit from the edge of the box. Then Olise decided to finish it himself. A curled effort into the top corner on 83 minutes, and a second in the 92nd.
Two goals and an assist. The France international spent much of the summer at the centre of speculation about his future in Bavaria. He did not take long to respond on the pitch.
Second in the table already
The result puts Bayern second in the league phase after matchday one. Goal difference of plus five carries real weight in a format that ranks 36 clubs in a single table.
Bodo/Glimt paid heavily for those 45 minutes after the break. The Norwegian side have built a strong European reputation over recent seasons. Kane, Saibari and Luis Diaz all had further openings before the end.
