Aryna Sabalenka begins her last-16 tie against Taylor Townsend on Sunday, 6 September, kicking off the day session on Arthur Ashe Stadium. The match starts at 5:30pm CEST, which is 11:30am on the East Coast. Nothing is scheduled before it on centre court, so the start time should hold.

The defending champion is protecting more than a trophy. Her lead at the top of the WTA rankings has been cut to a little over 400 points over Elena Rybakina, and a slip in New York would blow the race wide open.
