Six goals in eight matches
Six goals. In eight matches. That is the LA Galaxy’s attacking return since MLS came back from the World Cup break.
The rest follows the script. One win, four defeats, three draws in that stretch. An overall record of 6-9-8, 26 points, and a playoff race that keeps drifting further away: three points off the line in the West, with three teams sitting between them and it.
New England Revolution visit Carson on Saturday. The Galaxy are out of games to waste.

Lozano is still finding his feet
There was one bright spot last Saturday in San Diego. Hirving Lozano scored, his first since arriving on August 7, and he did it against his former club. The Mexico winger fired seven shots, four on target, and went the full 90 for the first time in his new colours. The Galaxy still lost 3-1.
“We’re getting to know each other, we’re adjusting to each other, and we don’t have much time either,” Lozano said. “I think we’re taking it step by step.”
His head coach says roughly the same thing with a lot less patience. “I think he’s still working on building a connection with all the guys,” Greg Vanney said. “This is a team that’s being built, and it has to be built fast.”
At the other end, they score
New England do not have that problem. Eleven wins, seven defeats, four draws, 37 points, fourth in the East. Two wins and a draw from their last three, three goals in each of the two victories, including a scrappy 3-1 at Columbus last Sunday.
Carles Gil sits at the heart of it: eight goals, eight assists, the best return at the club in both columns. His coach still refuses to reduce him to the numbers. “People have got used to him putting up big goal and assist figures,” Marko Mitrovic said. “But I’ve said it many times, we’re not here to make big numbers for Carles, he’s here to help us make big numbers as a team.”
These two clubs meet once this season. There is no rematch waiting for the Galaxy.
