Paris FC have yet to concede in their first two Ligue 1 matches. Marseille, by contrast, shipped two at Monaco last weekend and never really found a way back.

The two sides are separated by just one place in the table. Paris FC were second before this round, Marseille eighth.
Fifth last season, Olympique de Marseille missed out on Champions League qualification and will have Europa League football this autumn. Paris FC, back in the top flight in 2025, finished their first season back in 11th.
The recent numbers between these clubs point firmly one way. Last season’s two meetings brought Marseille four points, with a 5-2 win at the Velodrome and a 2-2 draw in the capital, seven goals scored and four conceded.
That historical edge runs straight into the division’s best defence after two rounds. It is that clash of styles, more than the current standings, that makes this one easy enough to read.
Sunday night gives the contest extra weight for Marseille. It comes at the start of a busy stretch, just before they launch their European campaign.

Marseille opened the season with a routine 4-0 home win over Strasbourg. No other Ligue 1 side managed such a margin on the opening weekend.
The trip to Monaco told a very different story. Beaten 2-0 and unable to score, Marseille ran into the first heavyweight they have faced this season.
That setback dropped them to eighth ahead of matchday three. They are now just a point behind Paris FC.
The home record at the Velodrome is still spotless since the restart. Their only outing there produced four goals and none against, which is still the best single-match return in the division.
The schedule gives Bruno Genesio little breathing room. A two-game week follows straight after this, with a league trip to Rennes and then a journey to Besiktas in the Europa League.
Against Paris FC, the recent evidence is hard to ignore. Marseille put five past them in their only Velodrome meeting last season, in a game that never really looked like going the visitors’ way.
The bookmakers have acted accordingly. Marseille are priced at 1.76, making them the clearest home favourites on matchday three.
The transfer window ended with one more exit on the Marseille side, Quinten Timber off to Crystal Palace for around 18 million euros. Genesio goes into this one with a thinner midfield than he would have liked.

Paris FC arrive with the league’s tightest defence 
Paris FC have picked up four points from a possible six to start the season. Their net has stayed untouched across both matches, the only side in Ligue 1 to do that after two rounds.
The goalless draw at Troyes was hardly a box-office hit. Paris could not break down a well-drilled promoted side and had to settle for a point, without really testing the keeper beyond one effort on target.
The visit of Nice changed the mood completely. A clean 3-0 win at Stade Jean-Bouin, sparked by an 18th-minute penalty after a foul on Ilan Kebbal and converted by Lassine Sinayoko.
That start stands in sharp contrast to a sluggish summer. Liam Rosenior managed just one win in five friendlies, with two draws and two defeats, before the league campaign began.
This is the club’s second season since returning to the top flight in 2025. Last year’s 11th-place finish is the benchmark they are working from.
A trip to the Velodrome is a different type of test altogether. Troyes and Nice did not bring the same attacking threat Marseille do.
The odds reflect that gap. At 4.20, Paris FC are among the least fancied outsiders on the card, despite sitting on the podium.
Paris’s run of fixtures gets tougher quickly after this one. Lyon visit the following Saturday, before Strasbourg arrive a week later.
