A wrist that just isnt right
A brace spotted in a photo. Sometimes thats all it takes to decide a Formula 1 weekend.
Isack Hadjar was photographed late last week at the French junior karting championship. His wrist was still strapped up. Red Bull held off until the last possible moment before making their call for Monza. The verdict came this afternoon: the Frenchman wont race.
Liam Lawson will therefore line up alongside Max Verstappen this weekend. The injury dates back to the summer break, and the 21-year-old still hasnt recovered full use of his wrist.

Lawson grabbed his chance at Zandvoort
The New Zealander isnt there by accident. Drafted in late to replace Hadjar in the Netherlands, he qualified eighth and finished seventh. His first points for Red Bull, simple as that. His brief spell with the team last season didnt come close to that.
A few days after Zandvoort, he was back on track at Mugello for Pirelli. The target was clear: assess the 2027 tyres. The RB22 wheel has barely left his hands for two weeks.
Red Bull backed up the call with a clear statement. “Liam will drive alongside Max at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, while Isack continues to make encouraging progress after the wrist injury he sustained during the summer break,” the team said. “The team is monitoring his rehabilitation closely and will not take any unnecessary risks with his return to racing.”
A domino effect at Racing Bulls
The decision spills over to the sister team. Yuki Tsunoda had filled in for Racing Bulls at Zandvoort, alongside Arvid Lindblad. He keeps that seat for Monza.
As for the timetable, nobody is putting a date on Hadjars return, and Red Bull keep saying no risks will be taken. The wrist will decide.
