He did not say no. The cornerback is in the last year of his deal and extension talks have gone nowhere.

A week of deadlock
Mike McCarthy used that exact word last week. Deadlock. Which means no fresh long-term offer is sitting in front of the player right now.
Then there is the health question stacked on top. Porter Jr. came off the PUP list on Sunday and practised Tuesday for the first time since camp opened. A back injury on day one wiped out most of his preseason.
Awkward spot for the Steelers. They have to price a starting corner while genuinely not knowing how many snaps he can give them.
Week 1 is not settled
McCarthy will not commit to having him for the opener against Atlanta. A full week of practice decides that.
Porter Jr. stepped around the back question entirely. “I can’t really talk too much about the future. Today I was out there running with the guys, I’m still trying to get back to 100%, but we’ll take it day by day.”
Two problems, one player. The back may sort itself out in a few sessions. The contract will not.
