Brentford have conceded just one goal in their first two Premier League matches. Sunderland have scored only two in the same period.

Brentford sit fifth with four points, four goals scored and one conceded. Sunderland are 11th with three points, two goals scored and two shipped.
Brentford come in off a 1-1 draw at Elland Road, after brushing aside Tottenham 3-0 on opening day. They are one of the few unbeaten sides left in the league.
Sunderland have already had both ends of the story, losing 2-1 at Ipswich before beating Fulham 1-0 at home. Both games were decided by a single goal.
The two clubs have kept things tight across the opening two rounds: six goals in total across four matches. Neither side has shown much appetite for an open shootout so far.
Brentford have not lost since the season got under way, while Sunderland have already tasted defeat. Even so, the two clubs are separated by just a single point.
The game will be played at the Gtech Community Stadium, a small ground that held 17,180 fans on opening day. Brentford controlled Tottenham from start to finish there.
So this is a meeting of two sides built first and foremost on discipline at the back. The first goal could end up deciding everything.

Brentford opened their season with a 3-0 win over Tottenham at the Gtech Community Stadium. It was built methodically, with a goal in each 30-minute spell.
Keane Lewis-Potter opened the scoring in the 12th minute, Vitaly Janelt doubled the lead in the 33rd, and Michael Kayode put the game to bed in the 49th minute, in front of 17,180 spectators.
That win over a side targeting Europe says plenty about Brentford’s level. No goals conceded, three scored, total control.
The second game was tighter at Elland Road, ending 1-1 in front of 35,974 fans. Kevin Schade had given Brentford the lead in the 41st minute.
Leeds snatched an equaliser through Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the 79th minute, denying Brentford a second straight win. Still, a point away from home is a solid return in that setting.
After two rounds, the Bees have four goals for and one against, leaving them with the league’s second-best defensive record behind Arsenal and Hull City. The consistency is there.
All four of their goals this season have been scored by different players: Lewis-Potter, Janelt, Kayode and Schade. That makes them far harder to pin down with man-marking.
The only goal they have let in came in the 79th minute at Elland Road. Across those two matches, that is the only time an opponent has found a way through.
The Gtech Community Stadium has already seen off a top-six English side this season, which makes it a nasty place to go. Sunderland are walking into a pretty unfriendly setup.

Sunderland : three points, two goals 
Sunderland started their campaign with a trip to Portman Road and a 2-1 defeat. Nilson Angulo had levelled things up in the 39th minute in front of 29,669 spectators.
Emersonn had put Ipswich ahead in the 24th minute, and Jack Clarke settled it with a 90th-minute winner. Losing it at the death always leaves a sour taste on opening day.
They bounced back a week later with a 1-0 win over Fulham in front of 46,781 fans at the Stadium of Light. Wilson Isidor made the difference in the 75th minute.
That win came with a clean sheet, Sunderland’s first of the season, so the defensive base looks decent enough at home.
The issue is up front. Two goals in two matches, two different scorers, and nobody has yet stepped forward as the go-to man in the box.
Away from home, their record is that 2-1 loss at Ipswich, a trip to a newly promoted side. The standard is a lot higher west of London.
Their two scorers, Nilson Angulo and Wilson Isidor, have found the net in very different situations, one in response at Ipswich, the other to kick-start a home win. Neither has backed it up yet.
In front of 46,781 fans against Fulham, Sunderland showed they can lean on the home crowd to grind out a tight result. That advantage disappears on the road.
So Sunderland will need to score against a defence that has been breached only once since the season began. The contrast between the two teams is plain enough.

Our prediction: Brentford to win
Brentford are unbeaten and have conceded only one goal in two games, a figure bettered only by Arsenal and Hull City. That defensive platform gives them an edge Sunderland simply do not have.
The Bees also scored three times against Tottenham at home on opening day. They know how to make their moments count in front of their own supporters.
Sunderland, by contrast, have two goals from two games and have barely led away from home at all. Their only win came at home and by the narrowest of margins.
