Bundesliga: Tottenham send Mikey Moore to Cologne on loan

June 2027, and not a day later

No buy option. That detail says most of what there is to say about Mikey Moore’s move to the Bundesliga, confirmed this afternoon by Fabrizio Romano. Cologne get the England youth winger for the season, Tottenham get him back next summer, and nobody at Spurs is pretending this is a sale in disguise.

They want him playing. That is the whole point.

What happens when your club spends $413.8 million

Tottenham have thrown around $413.8 million this window, second only to Chelsea in England. Sandro Tonali came from Newcastle for £92.5 million. Mateus Fernandes arrived from West Ham at £85 million, Savinho from Manchester City for a similar figure, and a deal with Everton for Iliman Ndiaye has been agreed on top.

Roberto De Zerbi wants two bodies in every position. Moore, an academy graduate who was in the first team at 16, has watched the queue in front of him grow considerably longer since last season.

Cologne risk almost nothing

A wage bill and a bit of patience. That is the extent of the Rhineland club’s exposure here, with no fee attached and no obligation waiting at the other end. They get a wide player who wants to run at defenders, in a league with a track record of handing young English players the platform their own clubs cannot.

Whether the games actually come is another matter. Moore has 10 months to make Tottenham want him back.
