Twenty-nine, and counting
Angel Reese needed 11 rebounds this afternoon. She got them, and the record came with them.
The Atlanta forward pulled down her 29th double-double of the season in College Park, breaking a mark Alyssa Thomas set in 2023. Reese finished with 15 points and 11 boards as the Dream beat the Minnesota Lynx 89-81, handing the league leaders a second loss to Atlanta this year.
Thomas held the record at 28. Reese passed it in her third WNBA season, with games still left on the schedule.

Gray runs the show
The louder performance belonged to Allisha Gray. Six 3-pointers, 23 points, 11 rebounds, her first double-double of the year. She and Reese opened with eight points apiece as Atlanta surged to 16-7 inside the first six minutes.
Gray came back out for the second quarter and buried her fourth triple of the day. Another followed moments later. Atlanta led 32-23 with 8:52 on the clock. Kayla McBride cut it to 44-39 late in the half before the Dream closed on an 8-2 run, capped by Reese scoring in the lane with a second left for a 52-41 cushion.
Jordin Canada added 16 points and 10 assists. Rhyne Howard scored 16, including the back-to-back 3-pointers that killed Minnesota’s last serious push.
There was a debut, too. DeWanna Bonner, in her 17th season, signed with Atlanta on Thursday and checked in with 6:56 left in the first quarter. The Gateway Center Arena crowd stood for her. She scored seven.
Minnesota’s first stumble since July
Olivia Miles led the Lynx with 21 points. The Rookie of the Year favorite kept Minnesota alive, and her drive with 8:31 to play trimmed the deficit to 73-66. Then Howard answered from deep, twice, and it was 79-66 with under six minutes left.
McBride and Napheesa Collier scored 17 apiece, Courtney Williams 11. Collier’s 11 in the opening quarter held the first-period gap to 26-21 despite Atlanta’s fast start.
Minnesota has lost two straight for the first time since July 6. At 31-9 the Lynx still own the best record in the league, but Atlanta has taken both meetings this season. The odd part: the Dream gave the ball away 18 times to Minnesota’s 11, and the Lynx scored 23 points off those mistakes against 13 the other way. Atlanta won anyway, shooting 46.5 percent from the floor and 13 of 36 from beyond the arc, and sits 26-14 with the playoff picture tightening behind Minnesota.
