Weeks on trial, then a contract
He had been training with the squad for a while already. Long enough for the staff at Le Havre to make up their minds, and on Sunday afternoon the Normandy club confirmed the signing of Mouhamed Lamine Ndiaye, a 21-year-old Senegalese centre-back, on a three-year deal. He takes the No. 97 shirt.
Nobody inside the club was surprised. The trial went well, the coaching staff signed off, and the paperwork followed.

Dakar to Saint-Etienne to Alverca, all before 21
Guediawaye FC brought him through in Senegal. Saint-Etienne took him in 2023, where he worked under Razik Nedder. Twelve months ago he moved again, this time to Alverca in Portugal. That is three countries and four clubs for a player who cannot yet legally hire a car in some places.
HAC published a profile with the announcement. “Tall (1.87m), strong in the tackle, quick, Mouhamed also stands out for his listening skills, showing a steely determination and an unrelenting desire to succeed,” the club wrote. It also noted a coincidence worth a line: he grew up in the same district as Issa Soumare, once of Le Havre.
A point in Lyon, a signing the next day
The draw at Lyon on matchday two (1-1) is the backdrop. For a club that usually spends its seasons looking downwards, a point in that stadium counts for something.
A quick, athletic, inexpensive centre-back is exactly the sort of business Le Havre have done since coming back up. Tuesday night is the deadline. There may be more.
