Four turnovers, and it barely mattered
Detroit gave the ball away four times in Indianapolis and still walked out with a 25-16 win. That is the sort of line that usually belongs to a losing team.
What saved the Lions was the other number. Four red-zone trips, four touchdowns or scores. Every time they reached the fringe of the end zone, they came away with points. The Colts never built the kind of lead those giveaways should have handed them.
The preseason ended there for both clubs, with cuts due Sunday.

Dobbs missed four throws all night
Joshua Dobbs completed 15 of 19 for 128 yards and two touchdown passes. Nothing spectacular, nothing wasted. He found Jackson Meeks from six yards, then Tay Martin from two, and those two second-quarter scores pushed Detroit in front 19-13.
Jacob Saylors did the heavy work on the ground with 17 carries for 100 yards. Trayveon Williams had already opened Detroit’s account late in the first quarter, finishing a 70-yard drive from a yard out.
Undrafted rookie Luke Altmyer started for the Lions and had a rougher time of it. Seven completions in 11 attempts for 55 yards, plus an interception on his second drive. Altmyer is fighting for a job this weekend, and a night like that leaves the decision to somebody else.
Indianapolis could not run
The Colts finished with 34 rushing yards as a team. Seth McGowan led them with 20 on four carries, which tells you how little the ground game offered.
Anthony Richardson Sr. threw for 80 yards and opened the scoring sequence with a 24-yard completion to Keenan Allen that set up a 46-yard Blake Grupe field goal. DJ Giddens ran in from six yards for the only Indianapolis touchdown, in the second quarter.
After that the Colts kicked and kicked again, which against a team converting everything inside the 20 was never going to be enough.
