Twice behind, twice pegged back
Two more points gone at Anfield. Nottingham Forest walked out with a 2-2 on Saturday afternoon after a game Liverpool never took hold of.
Dan Ndoye opened it. A huge Matz Sels punt travelled the length of the pitch, Morgan Gibbs-White slid the former Nice winger in, and Ndoye picked his spot past Alisson on 24 minutes. The Liverpool back line watched the whole thing unfold.
Florian Wirtz thought he had the equaliser eight minutes later. Offside. He was still the best player on the field by some distance.

Gakpo makes one, Munoz saves one
It took until the hour for Alexander Isak to touch the game. Cody Gakpo killed two defenders with one touch, put the cross exactly where it needed to be, and the Swede finished from a yard out.
Six minutes of comfort, then Forest were ahead again. Jeremy Jacquet reacted late to a throw-in, Neco Williams got clean through, and Alisson took him down. Gibbs-White did the rest from the spot on 70. Soft, all of it.
Ronald Araujo came on for Jacquet. Rio Ngumoha started tearing into his flank. And Victor Munoz, signed this summer, produced the moment of the afternoon on 82: a touch to kill it, a roulette to buy the yard, and a shot in under the bar that Sels never moved for.
A season that has not started properly
That is two draws in a row. Last weekend Liverpool needed the 99th minute to rescue 2-2 against Newcastle. Different plots, same ending, four points binned in eight days.
Andoni Iraola’s problem is behind the ball. Both goals came from things a Premier League defence should handle in its sleep, a throw-in and a goalkeeper’s clearance. Going forward there is nothing wrong: Gakpo is thriving, Wirtz ties everything together, Ngumoha changes games off the bench.
Reinforcement is close. Bradley Barcola is expected to complete a move from PSG in the next few days. He joins an attack that scores and a team that keeps giving it back.
Forest take a point and two goals home from Anfield. Ndoye and Gibbs-White got them. Whether it turns out to be worth anything depends on May.
