Eighteen points off turnovers, and the night was over
Toronto gave the ball away 16 times. Las Vegas turned that into 18 points. The Tempo managed two the other way. That single line explains a 93-73 result far better than anything else from Thursday night.
A’ja Wilson put up 27. Jackie Young had 23 and 8 assists. Young’s first three-pointer came inside three minutes and the Aces led from there to the final buzzer.
The shooting cooled off fast, though. After Young hit three early and Jewell Loyd added one past the six-minute mark, Las Vegas finished 10 of 33 from deep. Toronto was barely better at 10 of 28, Kia Nurse accounting for four of those on eight tries. Chelsea Gray, meanwhile, kept picking pockets. Four steals, then 11 points on the other end.

A fifth MVP nobody has ever won
Wilson went 10 for 15 inside and Las Vegas won the paint 36-28. Eight rebounds too, tied for the game high. She and Young each went 7 of 8 at the line, which nearly matched Toronto’s entire night from the stripe (9 of 13).
Four MVP awards is the ceiling in this league. Wilson already shares it. She wants a fifth, and voters remember late-August nights like this one.
One team peaking, one team counting days
Las Vegas sits at 27-13 going into the FIBA World Cup break. Toronto is 11-28, losers of 15 of their last 16. The expansion side closes a three-game Western swing in Phoenix.
Five Tempo players reached double figures. Isabelle Harrison had 15, Laura Juskaite 14, Nurse 12 on threes alone, Kiki Rice and Kiana Williams 10 each. Spread the scoring around and it looks healthy on a box score. It also means nobody took the game by the throat.
