Off to Amsterdam for talks
Azzedine Ounahi has been given the green light by Girona to head to the Netherlands and open talks with several clubs, according to Foot Mercato. Ajax are among them.
The news lands three days before the window shuts, when this sort of permission usually means something is already in motion. The Morocco attacking midfielder would not be making the trip if talks were not well advanced.
Girona have every reason to get a deal done. The Catalan club were relegated at the end of last season and now have to trim both the squad and the wage bill for life in the lower tier.

His club went down and his stock went up
Ounahi is a familiar type of window case: a player who came out of a bad team season with his reputation intact. Even with Girona down, his performances kept his stock high across Europe.
He impressed at the World Cup with Morocco this summer too, as the Atlas Lions went deep into the tournament. That was enough to catch the eye of Barcelona, who tracked him for part of the summer without ever pulling the trigger.
French supporters know him well. He made his name at Angers, then moved to Marseille in January 2023 after a standout 2022 World Cup in Qatar, before heading back to Spain.

The Dutch club have long been a good home for tidy midfielders who need plenty of touches. Ounahi would get a central role there, the one thing neither of his previous suitors could guarantee.
No deal has been announced. The trip has been approved, though, and with the deadline closing in there is not much room left for hesitation.
