A phone call, nothing more
A year. That is all Jonathan David may have spent in Turin if this story plays out.
Atletico Madrid have phoned Juventus. Fabrizio Romano reports that the Colchoneros, who are in the market for a striker, wanted to know the conditions for a move for the Canadian international. No bid has been made. No talks have been opened. Just an initial contact, and that is it.
But Juve are listening. The Turin club are said to be willing to let David go this summer if an acceptable offer lands on the table. They are also chasing a new centre-forward themselves. The two things go hand in hand.

Spalletti never took to him
The problem did not start yesterday. David has slipped behind Randal Kolo Muani in the pecking order, and his minutes have been cut back week by week.
Then came Luciano Spalletti’s public comments. Too nice on the pitch. Not hard enough on himself. The sort of line that does not vanish in a dressing room.
Then came Frosinone. Juventus laboured badly in attack all game. David stayed on the bench. A striker sat down while his team could not find a goal says more than any press conference ever could.
The World Cup did not save him
The Canadian has just come off a strong 2026 World Cup with his national team. In Turin, it has changed nothing about his place in the rotation.
The former Lille forward simply needs to play. Atletico want a goalscorer. On paper, the fit makes sense for both sides.
What has not happened yet is any real movement. An enquiry is not an offer, and the market closes in a few days. If Madrid want to push this through, they will have to move fast.
