No signing just to calm the noise
Barca could end the transfer window without a centre-forward. And that is no longer just a pub-table theory.
According to Catalan daily Sport, Hansi Flick has laid down a simple rule to the board: no signing unless he is 100% sure what the player brings. Even if that means bringing nobody in before the market shuts. The paper adds the club could then revisit the position in January.
Robert Lewandowski is gone. Nobody has replaced him. And the German coach says he is not panicking.

The Alvarez deal is stuck
The top target was Julian Alvarez. It still is Julian Alvarez, but Atletico Madrid have no intention of opening talks. The Argentine is still hoping for a move to Catalonia, and Barca are set to keep pushing to the end, even if nothing right now suggests a happy ending.
Flick was asked about it on Sunday night after the comfortable win over Elche. His answer: “I’m not worried about the No. 9. I’m speaking with Deco to strengthen the squad.” It does not say much, but it does shut the door on the disaster scenarios.
Plenty of names, precious few guarantees
The alternatives are flying around all over the Spanish press. Lautaro Martinez at Inter, Nicolo Tresoldi at Brugge, Ayoze Perez and Georges Mikautadze at Villarreal. According to Sport, the coach would prefer an experienced striker with a proper track record, the kind of level Alvarez or Lautaro brings. Someone who can hit the ground running. Not a gamble.
That explains the lukewarm feeling around a profile like Tresoldi, young and promising but without top-level experience. Flick is also said to believe he has enough options in his squad to cover in the middle if needed. Raphinha played there against Elche, after all.
There are a few days left. Barca rarely have a quiet transfer window.
