A one-liner to kill the debate
Jean-Louis Leca did not beat around the bush. Appearing on Rothen s’enflamme on RMC Sport, the RC Lens sporting director settled the Florian Thauvin question with one line: “Florian Thauvin, I think I’m more saleable than he is!”
The joke does the job of a denial. No bid has been mentioned, no lead has been confirmed. With only days left in the window, the message to any interested clubs is crystal clear.

Six in already, and the money is running out
Les Sang et Or have brought in six new faces this summer. Leca owns it: the wiggle room has shrunk. “We can’t double up in every position, so at some point we’ve got to be smart about the numbers and the finances.”
The club official sets out a clear condition for any further arrivals. “Right now, we know we have to move a few players on if we want to do anything.” The door is not fully shut, though, as he adds that “if there are still good deals to be done, we’ll try to do them.” His estimate says plenty: “At 80%, 90%, nothing else is going to change!”
What Thauvin means to Lens
Keeping Thauvin is no small matter. The 2018 World Cup winner has become Lens’ attacking reference point at Bollaert since his return to Ligue 1. He underlined that again on 22 August, firing Lens to a comfortable win over Auxerre (5-2).
A club that has to sell before it can buy protects first and foremost the player it would find hardest to replace. Leca is saying exactly that. He just puts it better than most of his peers.
