Ferencvaros vs Trabzonspor: seven European games, seven goals for the Hungarian side 
Ferencvaros have scored in each of their seven European qualifying matches this summer. That streak is the key story heading into this second leg.
After a 1-0 away win on August 20, sealed by Kristoffer Zachariassen from an Olivér Nagy assist, Ferencvaros did the hard part in Trabzon at Papara Park.
The final call comes this Thursday, August 27, at 20:30 at Groupama Aréna. The stakes are simple: win and you are in the Europa League league phase; lose and you drop into the Conference League. With that slender lead in hand, the Hungarians go into the return leg in control against the Turks.
Trabzonspor now need at least one goal in Budapest if they are to turn this tie around. They could not find one at home, in a stadium known as one of the loudest in Turkey.
The difference in rhythm between the two sides is the other big factor here. Ferencvaros are playing their seventh European match of the summer. Trabzonspor are playing their first and only.
The Turkish club went straight into the final qualifying round, skipping the three earlier stages. That saved them six matches, but it also left them short on battle-hardened match sharpness.
Since entering the competition on July 9, Ferencvaros have put together a flawless run in European qualifiers. The Hungarian side have gone seven games without defeat, with five wins and two draws.
Strong at both ends, they have scored 12 and conceded just 5, ticking off each round in methodical fashion.
The most interesting stat is what they have done in the first legs. Ferencvaros have won all four first legs this summer, including three away from home, which says plenty about a side that likes to take the game by the throat.
Tactically, this one should be decided in the first 30 minutes. An early Trabzonspor goal throws it wide open. A Ferencvaros goal, given the mountain the Turks still have to climb, would all but end it.
Ferencvaros: five wins, two draws, no defeats in qualifying 
Ferencvaros entered at the first qualifying round of the Europa League. They got past Vojvodina 5-1 on aggregate.
The trip to Serbia set the tone with a 2-1 win. The return in Budapest was wrapped up 3-0, the biggest margin in their whole run.
The second round against Twente demanded more. After a 2-1 win in the Netherlands, they had to hold a 2-2 draw at home to go through 4-3 on aggregate.
The third round against Gornik Zabrze was a different kind of fight, far uglier and tighter. A 1-0 win in Budapest and a 1-1 draw in Poland were enough for a 2-1 aggregate victory.
The first leg in Trabzon confirmed their knack for winning the ugly way. One goal, a clean sheet, and a lead taken in the toughest venue of the lot.
Across those seven matches, Ferencvaros have scored every time. No opponent has shut them out since July 9.
The trade-off is a defence that gives chances away. The Hungarian side have kept only three clean sheets in seven qualifying games.
Even so, the defensive record is still under control, with five goals conceded across the whole run. Two of those came in one night against Twente.
Ferencvaros have also won all four first legs, three of them away from home. They have not once been forced into a second leg chasing the tie.
Groupama Aréna is the final card in their hand. Their two previous summer qualifiers were built on first-leg advantages, just like this one on Thursday.

Trabzonspor: one European match this season, and it ended in a home defeat 
Trabzonspor did not play any qualifying rounds this summer. The Turkish club came straight into the Europa League play-off stage.
That gives them freshness and a clean prep. It also means they have had no high-stakes European football in their legs.
The first leg delivered a blunt verdict. Beaten 1-0 at home, they made a poor start to their continental campaign.
Losing the first leg on home soil leaves Trabzonspor in the worst possible spot for this round. They now have to win in Budapest, or win by one to force extra time.
Papara Park was supposed to be their big advantage. It is one of the noisiest grounds in Turkey and usually rattles visiting European sides.
This time, they failed to cash in. No goal in 90 minutes against a Hungarian defence that does leak in four of its seven qualifying games.
The Turkish league restarted in mid-August, so the squad do have some competitive rhythm back. But that is a long way from the pressure of a two-legged play-off.
Trabzonspor arrive as a major name in Turkish football, but with no European reference points this season. That is the main unknown in this second leg.
The two-leg format also demands control over 180 minutes and two very different game states. That is exactly the sort of test Ferencvaros have been living through for seven weeks.
There is still a safety net for the Turkish club. If they go out in Budapest, they drop into the Conference League league phase.

Trabzonspor come into this one needing a goal just to stay alive in the tie. That should force the Turkish side to take more risks from the first whistle, which opens the door for Ferencvaros to hit them on the break.
