Off to Yorkshire
Three French-schooled signings in one summer, and Hull City are not done. Mohamed-Ali Cho is set to leave Ligue 1. According to Fabrizio Romano, the 22-year-old striker is on his way to the newly promoted side, and he is due to fly out in the next few hours for a medical and to sign his deal.
OGC Nice paid 10 million euros to prise him away from Real Sociedad two years ago. The club on the Riviera would now bank around 15 million euros up front, with hefty bonuses added if Hull City stay in the English top flight next season. A tidy profit, sure, but nowhere near the kind of return they had in mind when he arrived on the Cote d’Azur.

Fourth club at 22, and still no settled role
Cho has eight caps for France’s Under-21s. He burst onto the scene at Angers as a teenager, then left Ligue 1 for Spain in 2022 before coming back two years later. In between, no club managed to turn him into a nailed-on starter over a full season. At 22, he is already heading to his fourth senior club.
Nice, meanwhile, have had a chaotic summer window. Terem Moffi is off to Germany, Elye Wahi is back on loan with an option to buy, and the attack has been ripped up in a matter of days. Cho’s exit is part of that reshuffle, not just a routine squad tweak.
Hull City keep shopping in France
The newly promoted side are not hiding their approach. Lucas Gourna and Nobel Mendy, both with experience in French football, have already joined this summer. Cho would be the third player from that pipeline to turn up in Yorkshire.
Hull have started the season in style, beating Manchester United 2-0 on the opening weekend. A promoted side taking down a club of that size straight away is no small thing, and it changes the mood around a dressing room. Cho would be walking into a positive setting, with a team that doesn’t look like it has bought into the underdog act.
Nothing is official yet. The medical still has to be passed.
