Ten innings to separate them
Andy Pages stood on third with nobody out in the 10th. Teoscar Hernandez had just lined a single off Jimmy Herget to put him there. Freddie Freeman did not need to do anything clever after that. A fly ball deep enough to score a runner was all it took, and the Los Angeles Dodgers had the lead they would not give back, 6-4 over the Colorado Rockies in Denver on Wednesday night.
Mookie Betts turned a nervy inning into a comfortable one. His single brought home Hernandez, who had moved up on the sacrifice fly, and a one-run game suddenly had room to breathe. Betts finished with three hits.
Tanner Scott closed it without drama, three up and three down for save number 18, one night after he recorded his 17th in the same ballpark. Kyle Hurt took the win at 4-1 after a scoreless ninth. Herget fell to 0-5.

Betts and Enrique Hernandez did the early damage
Los Angeles opened the scoring in the second on an Enrique Hernandez RBI single, then piled on in the fourth. Betts led off the inning with his 16th home run of the season. Kyle Tucker singled with one out, and Enrique Hernandez followed with his second homer of the year to make it 4-0.
Roki Sasaki gave the Dodgers five innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with six strikeouts, and walked off in line for the win. Alex Vesia undid that two innings later.
Colorado’s answer in the fourth came from Adael Amador, whose two-run double landed moments after the Rockies had lost their starter.
Freeland out early, Moniak keeps Colorado alive
Kyle Freeland grabbed at his lower back on a pitch that Ben Rortvedt lined to right for the second out of the fourth. Neck tightness ended his night there: four runs on six hits, five strikeouts. Mark Manfredi, acquired in the deadline deal that sent Antonio Senzatela to Milwaukee, walked in for his major league debut. He walked Shohei Ohtani, gave up a single and still got out of the inning.
Mickey Moniak kept the Rockies in it. With two outs in the seventh, Jake McCarthy drew a walk and Moniak sent a 399-foot drive into right field, his 20th home run of the season and the swing that tied the game. Three hits for him on the night, two more for Connor Norby, and nothing to show for any of it once the 10th arrived. Colorado has now lost three straight at home.
