One man landed in Catalonia on Monday. Just one. And in Manchester, an entire midfield suddenly looked hollow.
Rodri touched down in Barcelona to finish off his move. In front of the cameras he gave the Barca supporters the word they had been waiting for, calling the chance to pull on the blaugrana shirt a “dream”. Fresh off a summer that ended with Spain lifting silverware, he leaves the Etihad after years as the player the whole side was wired through.

A 21-year-old name on the table
Several reports have Manchester City looking at Jack Hinshelwood. Twenty-one, Brighton midfielder, born in London. Enzo Maresca is said to rate him and to see him as a genuine option in the middle of the park.
His case rests on reading of the game that runs well ahead of his age, clean technique, and a habit of scoring goals that matter even though the job description starts with defending. The sort of player you notice late, then wonder how anyone missed.
Mind you, City are not alone. The BBC has Arsenal in front for the England youth international, and Brighton have no reason at all to sell cheaply with a fortnight of the window still to run.
City’s real problem
A 21-year-old, however promising, does not replace a Ballon d’Or winner on his own. Nobody inside the club is pretending otherwise.
The harder question sits underneath: can City afford the time it takes to build around a young player, or do they need someone finished right now to survive the season? They opened the campaign by being taken apart by Arsenal in the Community Shield. Maresca’s first competitive night in the dugout, first bloody nose. The fixture list will not politely wait for the window to shut.
Nothing is signed. Nothing is really moving yet. But when a club this size loses its engine and starts looking down the coast toward Brighton, word travels.
